Imbros Gorge Print E-mail

You will very much enjoy this easy, downhill walk.

imbros gorge map Admire while walking the beauty of the land-scape of this unique gorge and imagine that it used to be the escape route of the Allied troops in WWII. - the lucky ones were evacuated from Chora Sfakion after their retreat from the north Crete.

  • Starting point: IMBROS village, altitude 790 m.
  • Ending point: KOMITADES Village
  • Walk time: 2 Hours 15 minutes

You can go to Imbros either by car or using the public busses (their union is called KTEL). Time: 1 Hour from our hotel or from the Central Bus Station (KTEL). To return to you car you can ask the people in Komitades to drive you back up to Imbros. They will happily do it for a small fee.

Alternatively you can walk another 15 minutes to the main road Chania - Chora Sfakion and flag down the public bus to Chania. More details at our reception desk.

Tips:

  • Several good tavernas in Imbros and Komitades.
  • Expect a small entrance fee at the starting point.
  • Refreshment kiosk and toilets halfway down
  • If you wish to walk all the way from Komitades to Chora Sfakion (from were there is regular bus service to Chania) be prepared for an additional 1hour 15 minutes walk.
